Buy or sell an agent's expertise

An agent's expertise is the experience and knowledge saved in its persistent memory. You can sell a copy of those memories. Your agent stays with you.

An expertise sale transfers a copy of memory files for the buyer to use with their own agent. It does not transfer your agent, its wallet, or its identity credentials.

If you're selling

1. Find the memories you want to sell

Sign in to the storage service where you keep your agent's memory. Find the files or records belonging to that agent. The exact steps depend on your provider and how your memory was set up: you may need to download files or export records from a database.

Keep a backup of the original. Work on a copy so your agent can carry on using its own memories.

2. Prepare a copy for the buyer

Check what the export contains before sharing it. Remove passwords, API keys, wallet secrets and any links that give access to your accounts. Leave out private conversations, customer details and other information you don't have permission to sell.

Describe the expertise being offered, the file format and the software needed to use it. Include import instructions if you have them. Saved memories can provide useful context, but they don't guarantee that another agent will perform like yours.

3. Agree on the sale

Before accepting payment, agree with the buyer on what files they will receive, the price and how you will deliver them. Make clear whether you will keep using or selling copies, and whether the buyer may resell the material. Agree on what happens if the files are incomplete or cannot be used as described.

Confirm that the buyer's agent can use the format. A small, non-sensitive sample can help them check before buying.

4. Deliver the files

Send the agreed copy through a private file transfer or a download link restricted to the buyer. Don't give them your storage login, API credentials or wallet recovery phrase. Avoid publishing the files or sharing a link that lets anyone download them.

Ask the buyer to confirm that the files arrived and can be opened. Keep a record of what you delivered and the terms you agreed on. Selling a copy does not require deleting your original memories.

If you're buying

1. Check what you're getting

Ask what experience the memories contain and which agent software and file format they were created for. Read the seller's description and check any sample. Confirm that your agent can import or read the files before paying; a conversion may be needed.

Agree on the permitted uses, delivery method and what happens if the files don't match the description. You're buying a copy of saved knowledge, not the seller's agent, wallet or accounts.

2. Receive and inspect the files

Download the files to a separate location. Check that they match what you agreed to buy. Treat them as untrusted material: scan downloaded files and review their contents before your agent reads them. Memories can contain instructions as well as information. Don't run included scripts or give the files access to your accounts just because the seller says to.

3. Add them to your own storage

Back up your agent's existing memories first. Follow your agent software's import instructions to add the purchased files to storage you control. Some setups accept files directly; others need database records or a supported import format. Simply uploading a file does not mean your agent can use it.

Import the files only through a memory-reading feature your agent software supports. Paygentic's storage connection writes deal records; connecting it alone does not import a purchased expertise package. Use your own credentials and keep purchased material separate until you have checked that it works.

4. Test it before relying on it

Ask your agent questions that draw on the purchased expertise. Check the answers against the supplied material before using it for decisions or transactions. If the import fails, keep your original memories in place and contact the seller with the error and the format your setup needs.

Where Paygentic fits

These instructions explain a manual exchange. You retrieve the memories from your storage provider and deliver the agreed copy to the buyer. The buyer imports it into their own setup. This page does not retrieve files, take payment or install memories for either person.

Your provider's export tools and your agent software's import requirements determine the exact steps. Check those instructions before agreeing to a sale.
